Wood Flooring Installation
There are many options when it comes to flooring in your home. At MJ Kloss Carpentry & Joinery we can install any flooring you wish whether it is solid wood, engineered wood, or Luxury Vinyl Tiling (LVT).
Hardwood flooring is made of solid wood, usually a hardwood species like maple, oak, or walnut; thanks to the thickness of the flooring, it can be sanded and refinished over and over, giving it a significantly longer lifespan.
Engineered wood flooring looks almost identical to solid hardwood flooring, but instead of a single wood plank it’s made with a high-quality plywood core and a thin layer of hardwood flooring on top. Engineered wood flooring is a more affordable option, but the number of times it can be refinished depends on the thickness of the top layer of.
LVT flooring, which stands for Luxury Vinyl Tile, is a type of durable, low-maintenance flooring that offers the appearance of real wood or stone or can otherwise introduce an abstract look.
All types of flooring are available in a huge variety of timber, finish, style, and hue, and at MJ Kloss Carpentry & Joinery we are happy to provide and install the flooring of your choice.
Hardwood Flooring
Hardwood flooring, also referred to as solid wood flooring, is often made of a hardwood species. Popular species include maple, walnut, oak, and cherry. Solid flooring comes from a solid piece of milled wood, hence the name. Most hardwood floors are nailed down to the sub-floor, although another common installation method is using tongue-and-groove planks to join the planks together.
In terms of maintenance solid hardwood is relatively easy to clean. Most floors only need sweeping and vacuuming, with the occasional mopping with a special wood cleaner to treat stains. For long-term maintenance it can be sanded down and refinished several times over its lifespan to look as good as new.
Engineered wood flooring
On the surface, engineered wood flooring looks and feels identical to hardwood flooring, but its construction uses a thin layer of hardwood to achieve its appearance with a plywood core. Because its top layer is just a thin layer of hardwood, it can’t be refinished as often as solid flooring, but it can still last up to 30 years and more with proper maintenance.
Looking almost exactly like hardwood, engineered wood flooring offers more flexibility in terms of width. One of the benefits of engineered wood flooring planks is that they can be easily replaced, especially those installed with the click-and-lock method.
Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) flooring
Luxury vinyl tiles are made up of multiple layers including PVC vinyl and resin compounded with plasticisers and stabilisers. These materials are then compressed under pressure and high temperature to create a hard-wearing flooring product.
While around the house it’s easy for your floor to get scratched, stained or scuffed, particularly if you have young children or pets, LVT is designed and built to withstand the challenges everyday life can throw at your floor.
You can get click together option, where the tiles are clicked together when they are fitted or a glued down version. The glued-down version of the tiles are easy to replace if they do get scratched or damaged but require a more level surface to be laid.
